Hold On To What You Believe
I'm Dana Buffington and I reside in Greenville, NC. Reppin' the 252, in other words. I go to East Carolina University, but don't judge me because of that - not everyone at ECU is crazy. I'm an art major concentrating in graphic design and I lerv it. Basically, I'm a college student trying to live a life full of contentment and passion about the things I love doing most. Music is one of my biggest passions ever and I'm ever in debt to God for giving that talent to me. I'm learning about myself, about the people I love, about life, and about how to pursue God like he wants and needs to be pursued. I try to thank Him every day for the wonderful life He has given me, including my wonderful family, friends, and boyfriend.

I’m beating myself up about everything I do wrong and thinking that my actions may never be good enough. I also say really hurtful things to people sometimes and I have no clue why. Because I seriously adore them and love them and would never want to hurt a single fragment of their being.

This is one of the hardest questions for me because I believe everyone should have equal rights and get to partake of everything in life just as the other does. I have friends that are gay and I don’t even mind it, but it’s not like I encourage them to pursue gay or lesbian relationships. I think it’s their choice and only they can choose for themselves. I believe in what the Bible says about marriage between man and wife and the original creation story:
“And the LORD God said, ‘It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.’ Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him. And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. And Adam said: ‘This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.’ Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. I’m not going to really get into it because it’s complicated to explain but my simple answer for you is that I think people can choose to do what they want in their lives (God did give us that free will, after all) but I, personally, don’t think gay marriage is right. And I don’t believe that people are just born that way. I think it’s a personal choice. But that being said, our freedom of choice is great and everyone should utilize it. God doesn’t hate people for being gay, nor does he hate people for any other sin. We all, as human beings, sin every day. No sin should be compared to another - they are all equal in God’s eyes. And even though we all fall short, He still loves us the same.
